Promoting your site, to get free traffic, is habitually more demanding than building it, but it’s at least as important. If you don’t take the time to promote your site correctly you won’t get anybody to visit it, and if nobody comes to your site then you can’t make any money. As a result advertising is an utter requirement.

But advertising can appear exceptionally intimidating, there are hundreds of websites out there that pledge this and pledge that, but you can’t see what you’re getting until you pay them. I don’t like this methodology to advertising, more often than not they are just rehashing the same information that’s by now all over the internet and all you do is waste your cash. As a result be wary of what you pay for.

So what are good marketing techniques? Well, there are numerous ways to succeed in marketing, from on-site SEO (Search Engine Optimization) where you optimize the text, keywords, title, etc… to a variety of off-site SEO methods. Off-site SEO is making your site visible on other websites, receiving quality inbound, chiefly one-way, links to boost your rankings and more. Here I will talk about just one of those techniques of off-site advertising, a system of receiving one way backlinks to your site.

Everybody concurs that the more backlinks you have to your site the higher in the search engines it will move, the search engines such as Google look at these backlinks as a mark that your site is known to be good (linking to blackhat sites, link farms or other ’spam’ sites will hurt your ranking as a result people are sure not to do it). As a result that brings us to the issue of how to get these one way links.

One system to get backlinks is through spam software, this software will spam minimal responses to each blog it can come across on the internet and put a backlink to your site. This is an awful way to get things done and if you run a blog you may find yourself at the receiving end of a lot of spam comments from software like this. Don’t do it.

An alternative system, and this is a superior one, is called article marketing, which a lot of of you have probably heard of. The most rudimentary article marketing is where you compose an article and put it in an article directory, the process of article submission, with your backlink in the article itself and/or in the author’s box (this depends on the directory). This works but is exceedingly unproductive.

A better method to do this is through the use of a service that will either put your articles on hundreds of directory sites or to put them on a system of blogs that need free content. And of course when your article is placed on any of these sites you get one way links back to your site. To get around duplicate content issues you do what’s called spinning it first, this means that you compose it in such a fashion that their software can create hundreds of exclusive versions of the same text.
